Flexible Plan

At Toddle Inn we try to go with the flow. We have our ideas on what's going to happen throughout the day, but we recognise that so do the children.

Meet Our Staff

WE ARE ALL HERE TO HELP YOU

All staff at Toddle Inn are fully qualified in Childcare and First Aid. We work well together, we help each other out and we all try to get the best out of each child. It's really important to have a sense of humour when working with children. We try to look at anything that happens from the child's point of view. Happy children = happy parents = happy staff!

We love to take children out to have new experiences like going to the shops or going to the playground. We invite visitors such as fire fighters, lollipop persons, musicians to introduce roles to children from the outside world. We encourage children to be curious, to ask questions and to become useful people in years to come. We try to help children solve their own problems as much as possible and we hope that their knowledge and understanding of the world is enhanced by being with us.

Our Mission

WHAT'S OUR GOAL

Toddle Inn is a full-time crèche for children from 4 months to school-going children. We are committed to providing a loving and relaxed environment, where children can learn, explore and have fun.

All children are respected and given the opportunity to socialise with other children of their own age. We respect that children develop at their own pace and so encourage independence while offering help when needed.

At Toddle Inn we acknowledge that all children are different and so we aim to be flexible and change as the needs of each child differ. Children come first at Toddle Inn, as we let their personalities blossom.

Our aims...

  • To provide a safe and caring environment for children.
  • To acknowledge that children need to have fun, get messy and laugh.
  • To ensure children in our care know at all times that they are loved and respected.
  • To recognise the individual needs of all children.
  • To stimulate and create an interesting atmosphere, as well as give children time to develop at their own pace.
  • To give children the chance to make friends and learn how to communicate with each other.

Rooms & Activities

WHAT WE DO

babies

Our babies age from 4 months to when they start walking. We do not have any set routine as such in this room – babies sleep when they are tired, eat when they are hungry and play when they want to. We like parents to give us any information that could help to figure out what the babies need during the day. We puree the dinner that the rest of the crèche eat so they get used to different flavours easily. If parents have their own food for babies they can provide this also. We ask for nappies, wipes, cream and a change of clothes. A separate sleep room is straight across the hall, with cots provided for each child.

wobblers

Our wobblers aged from approx. 14 months (when they start walking) to 2 years. This room is all about movement and exploring. The children at this age are curious about everything. There are no tables and chairs in this room as they jump and climb a lot! We have slides, ball pool, plenty of floor space for jumping and dancing around. We have wheeled, push along cars and a rocking horse. We use flash cards and singing in this room to encourage language and speech. Children can sleep when they are tired but usually they sleep approx. 12/12:30 for an hour or 2 in a separate designated sleep room. We talk to parents about sleeping habits in case children are getting too much or too little sleep. All rooms have direct access to the outside areas, which are safely surrounded by a high fence.

toddlers

Our toddlers are aged from 2 to 3 years. This room is all about figuring out what children want and how to get it, hence the tantrums! Language is a big part in this room and staff ask a lot of questions in this room to the children. We sing a lot of songs and read stories and poems throughout the day. The children play freely with jigsaws, dolls, cars, blocks, colour pictures or have the option to just relax and watch what going on around them. We try not to pressurise children to play certain things at certain times. We help with potty training in this room in partnership with parents. This can be a long process but we try to keep it as stress free as possible. Some children sleep in this room, but if not that's ok too. The children love outside digging, making a mess, running around, pulling up flowers, all good fun in the fresh air.

playschool

The playschool room, from aged 3 to 4 years, provides a play-based curriculum where each child's interests and needs are respected and incorporated into daily activities such as; painting, playdough, lego, colouring, blackboard, Jig-saw, books, story-time, blocks, water play, sand play, dress-up, pegs, pretend play, kitchen, farm animals, house, cutting & gluing, counting links, dolls, music instruments, outdoor, cars & trucks, lacing cards, shop. Play empowers children by allowing them to be spontaneous and to plan, make choices and decisions, explore and experiment, role play, be creative. We work in consultation with parents and welcome their input and expertise in development of our curriculum. Responsive, caring and nurturing relationships are the foundation which supports children through their development in the playschool room. We believe that children are competent and capable learners. Our aim is to provide opportunities for each child to reach their full potential and to support children through transitions which will develop their self-esteem and resilience.

montessori

The Montessori room, from aged 4 to 5 years, encourages independence and helping children get ready for going to school. This does not always mean writing and colouring, but we do encourage pre writing skills and have table time. We regard helping children to be able to express themselves clearly and confidently as a very important skill for school life. We show children how to take care of ourselves and our things, to look after each other and share, and play together in a kind, caring way. We value having consideration for our friends' feelings and ideas, and showing respect for our belongings and others around us. We mix play and learning with the children so that they have an enjoyable experience.

afterschool

Our afterschool room children age between 4 years to 12 years. We provide drop off to school in the morning and collection from school, a homemade hot dinner and snack, homework club, painting, music, free play, art & crafts projects, reading & relaxation, outside play, trips to playground, library and park. We try to keep the atmosphere pressure free and try to create a homely feel in the room. In general the afterschool children like to play with their friends without too much interference from the staff. During school holidays we go swimming and go for trips outside the crèche. We try to involve the children in decision making for activities as sometimes they are happy to not be instructed and to figure things out for themselves.
